12:15 - 1:45 PM THE ELEVATION OF TITUBA: RECLAIMING THE MOTHER OF WITCHES In the tradition of the famous 'Elevacions' they are known for, Baba Teddy and Lady Kate will be elevating the Blessed Effigy and Icon of 'Tituba' the first witch accused at the infamous and tragic Salem Witch Trials. We have created a likeness of the Barbadian woman that was recently consecrated and blessed by our good friend Witchdoctor Utu and this will be the first stop on a tour that will take her image and your energy on a tour that will end in Salem Massachusetts at the Salem Symposium. The real purpose of our ritual is to share the true story of the woman who is probably the most forgotten, maligned and misunderstood witch in American History. Through storytelling, ritual and song, we will be elevating every witch, be they from the African or European diasporas who has ever had to hide their true self in order to survive or save others. This is a Reclaiming Ritual for All who will end the Blame, Shame and Guilt that they no longer wish to bear. We will share her secret story as we elevate and release ourselves.
3:45 - 4:45 PM DAYLIGHT DRUM & DANCE Bring your drums and dancing feet for a drumming that is open for everyone. This is part storytelling, singing, ritual dancing and drumming that lets everyone participate. We will be doing a blessing of the drums so please bring your noisemakers, djembes, djun djuns, buckets, hand drums and any level of drummer is welcome as we will be doing a drum circle in the style of Baba Teddy's teacher Babatunde Olatunji. Experienced drummers and dancers are asked to share their gifts with beginners but will also be learning new songs not usually heard around here and from all traditions.
